Street Photography Guide
Capture the raw energy of city life — candid, authentic, unposed.
1. Be Patient
Great street photos come from waiting. Find a good spot with interesting light or background, then wait for the right person to walk through.
2. Shoot from the Hip
Hold your phone at waist level for candid shots. People don't notice a phone that isn't raised to eye level.
3. Use B&W or Cinema Filter
Street photography has a strong tradition in black and white. Our B&W and Cinema presets are perfect for urban scenes.
4. Look for Contrast
Light/shadow, old/new, crowded/empty — contrasts tell stories. A person alone in a big space, a splash of color in grey city.
5. Include Context
Signs, architecture, vehicles — these elements place your photo in a specific time and place. Use our timestamp overlay to add the date.
6. Respect People
Most countries allow street photography in public spaces, but be respectful. If someone objects, delete the photo.
7. Add Film Grain
Street photography + grain = timeless. Add 20-30% grain and a slight fade for documentary feel.
8. Use Burst Mode
For moving subjects, hold the shutter. You'll capture the perfect gesture or expression in one of the frames.
