How to Take Better Selfies
10 tips that make a real difference — from angles to editing.
1. Find Your Angle
Most people look best with camera slightly above eye level, tilted 15°. This slims the face and opens the eyes.
2. Face the Light
Natural light from a window is best. Face the light source — never have it behind you (backlit = dark face).
3. Use the Timer
Set 3-5 second timer. Prop the phone against something. Full-body selfies look way better than arm-length.
4. Clean the Front Camera
The front camera collects fingerprints constantly. One wipe = sharper, clearer selfie.
5. Don't Zoom
Front camera zoom degrades quality fast. Move closer/further instead of zooming.
6. Mirror Your Best Side
Most people have a preferred side. Figure out yours and consistently angle that side toward camera.
7. Use Portrait Mode
Background blur (bokeh) makes selfies look professional instantly. Available on most phones made after 2020.
8. Add the Aura Overlay
Our '100% Aura ✨' overlay is the #1 selfie overlay. Adds personality without covering your face.
9. Warm Filter + Slight Brighten
Apply Warm preset + Brightness +10% for glowing, flattering skin tones.
10. Don't Over-Smooth
A little skin texture is natural. Heavy smoothing looks artificial. Use our editor's subtle adjustments.
