Plan a Photo Watermark
Decide what you need from a watermark, and check the current editor limits before relying on a workflow.
What a watermark can and cannot do
- Visible attribution: a mark can communicate the name or brand you want viewers to see.
- Consistency: a repeatable placement and contrast can make a collection easier to recognize.
- No legal guarantee: a visible mark does not establish copyright ownership or prevent reuse by itself.
- Export review: inspect the rendered output at the size where it will be shared.
Current OverlayPhoto status
The current browser editor does not currently provide custom-text, logo, or batch watermark controls. It offers a fixed set of decorative overlays and a current-time overlay; those are not configurable watermark fields.
Release boundary: do not use the current editor for a workflow that requires entering a name, importing a logo, moving a mark, setting its opacity, or applying it to a collection.
Plan the mark before choosing a tool
- Write the exact text or prepare the logo file you are authorized to use.
- Choose placement, contrast, and a size that can still be read after the intended crop or resize.
- Keep an unmarked original and a separately named exported copy.
- Check a tool's current privacy behavior, export format, and batch behavior before importing images.
Batch workflow boundary
OverlayPhoto's Batch Processor currently handles local resize, compression, conversion, and deterministic enhancement only. While paid access is unavailable, it accepts up to five suitable files per selection. It does not apply watermarks or create a ZIP archive.
Watermark Best Practices
- Readability: check the mark against both light and dark areas of the image.
- Crop safety: review the output after the crop or aspect ratio you plan to share.
- Consistency: record your chosen placement and typography for future work.
- Originals: preserve an unmarked source rather than overwriting it.
Review the available browser editor
Use it for its currently listed overlays; do not treat them as custom watermark controls.
